To ensure McLaren Automotive continues its desire to be “the sportscar company”, we are looking for an Logistics Optimisation Manager to join our team.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Leading logistics optimisation projects to design, develop and implement warehousing, material handling and logistics solutions that support McLaren’s business plan.
  • Interaction with senior stakeholders within McLaren Automotive, Tier 1 Suppliers and third-party logistics providers to ensure that the Logistics strategy is integrated and supported.
  • Commercial oversight of third-party logistics suppliers and partners.
  • You will be responsible for the design of our future supply chain to meet the requirements of our vehicle programmes and continuous improvement projects.
  • Programme lead for developing the future warehouse solution to support the long-term logistics strategy.
  • Project manage the implementation of future solutions and engage all stakeholders in the change journey.
  • Working with service providers to develop/source solutions for innovative technologies, enhancing our kitting and sequencing capability to support our future ambition.
  • Review operational and systems performance on a frequent basis, identifying and proposing clear recommendations for future improvements in operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Review complex numerical data, identify key trends and develop clearly structured long-term projections for Investment and Operating costs.
  • Identify, assess, and solve complex business problems, where analysis of situation or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Point of escalation to resolve operational issues raised by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Design and document processes, policies and procedures
  • To deliver a sustainable improvement in inventory accuracy, engage with the operational and financial teams to identify improvement opportunities and to build them in to the future design of the supply chain.
  • Capable of assuming a leading role within a cross functional team to develop a robust logistics solution design.
  • You will be responsible for the design of our future supply chain to meet the requirements of our vehicle programmes and continuous improvement projects.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent (CILT) with an emphasis in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or similar related field
  • Extensive experience in logistics operations, inventory management and continuous improvement
  • 3PL or warehouse operations experience in a high SKU count, high velocity warehouse environment
  • Lean understanding and thinking to optimise existing processes and to seek out improvement opportunities would be beneficial.
  • Experience of material handling systems that enable capacity and productivity improvements
  • Demonstrated leadership of cross functional teams and change management
  • Ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought and decisive authority
  • Broad understanding of global distribution challenges (legislation etc)
  • Experience of shipping, freight forwarding and customs regulations
  • Proven ability to manage all aspects of complex supply chains from end to end
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience of supplier negotiations
  • Highly IT literate (Microsoft applications, SAP, Business Objects, SharePoint, etc)
