Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct and lead a team of 10-15 hardware design engineers responsible for the exciting line of JBL, Mark Levinson, Revel, Harman/Kardon, AKG and B&O Play automotive DSP amplifiers for the American and Asia Pacific markets
  • Be a change catalyst, driving continuous improvements in overall quality, cost and efficiency of the Hardware team
  • Hire, coach, and develop high-performing talent, ensuring the success of each team member and maximizing the capabilities of the team
  • Ensure compliance of all projects to the Global HW development process
  • Create and communicate design guidelines to ensure the quality of engineering deliverables
  • Assign HW resources to projects according to program development schedules
  • Lead the invention of cost-effective system-level designs to satisfy customer requirements, and propose them to OEMs
  • Drive the team to investigate new market trends and technologies that will give HARMAN designs a competitive edge
  • Collaborate with the Software, Mechanical, Transducer and Acoustic Engineering departments to deliver the best overall system solution
  • Ensure designs are ready for manufacturing and that the team supports the industrialization and manufacturing of each product. Manufacturing sites are in the US, Mexico, and China
  • Lead suppliers to guide the development of new devices that will be used in new designs to reduce cost and enhance performance
  • Establish and maintain annual department budget for equipment and resources

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSEE degree or equivalent; MSEE or MBA preferred
  • 8+ years of experience performing detailed design of embedded real-time systems, including both hardware and software development
  • 3+ years of experience mentoring junior engineers; previous direct management experience preferred
  • Highly motivated innovative leader
  • Ability to direct and manage complex hardware development projects to successful completion and on time
  • In-depth knowledge of fundamental electrical engineering principles, digital and analog circuit design, audio systems, tracking power supplies and embedded software engineering
  • Technical expert in hardware development; automotive experience is preferred
  • Proven track record of designing systems to meet rigorous EMC requirements
  • Extensive direct interaction with customers
  • Effective interpersonal skills with OEMs, peers, global teams and industry forums
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to speak comfortably, clearly and confidently in front of an audience
